Com o convite que me lançaram para escrever o guião de "After December" (do álbum "Diffraction / Refraction"), os You Can't Win, Charlie Brown arriscaram. E eu, com o mesmo espírito, arrisquei: Onde já se viu, no século XXI, um videoclip contar uma história?[ENG] I've written a lot about music. [PT] Em 2019, o Festival do Clube Criativos de Portugal (CCP) teve como tema "Sem Medos". E, num acto de bravura, convidaram-me para curador da área de Música da Semana Criativa de Lisboa, integrada na XXI edição do festival.Ao contrário do habitual, não organizei concertos, mas uma exposição intitulada "Sem Medo da Exposição". Nela, 18 artistas e bandas portuguesas deixaram ouvir (e ler) publicamente, pela primeira e única vez, músicas que nunca saíram da gaveta. Os temas estiveram em exibição numa jukebox, que o público manuseou livremente, e nas paredes, onde cada protagonista descreveu o que decidiu partilhar sem medos. Terminada a exposição, toda a música voltou para onde estava: na gaveta de cada um destes grandes nomes da música portuguesa. [ENG] In 2019, the Clube Criativos de Portugal (CCP) Festival chose "No Fear" as its motto. And, in an act of bravery, they invited me to curate the Music area of the Lisbon Creative Week, part of the 21st edition of the festival.Contrary to usual, I didn't organize concerts, but an exhibition entitled "No Fear of Exhibition". In it, 18 Portuguese artists and bands let people hear (and read) publicly, for the first and only time, songs that were never officially released. The music was displayed in a jukebox, that the public handled freely, and on the walls, where each artist described the music he decided to share without fear.Once the exhibition was over, all the music returned to where it was: in the drawer of each of these great names in Portuguese music.
The Error 404 Project
[PT] Tempos houve em que o "Erro 404", de "Página Não Encontrada", era um dos resultados mais populares da Internet. Todos os dias nos cruzávamos com ele, mas nunca reflectimos o suficiente sobre o assunto. Foi por essa razão que criei o "Error 404 Project", um site entretanto eliminado por falta de paciência do servidor: para responder à pergunta "Quais são os outros 403 erros?". Não tendo encontrado respostas que me satisfizessem o desejo de galhofa, inventei-os. Até ao Erro 360, que entretanto meteu-se o almoço, o Natal e a festa da escola dos miúdos.[ENG] There were times when "Error 404" ("Page Not Found", was one of the most popular results on the Internet. Every day we crossed paths with it, but we never thought enough about it. That's why I created the "Error 404 Project", a site that has since been deleted due to the server's lack of patience: to answer the question "What are the other 403 errors?". Having not found answers that satisfied my will to laugh, I made them up. Up to Error 360, because in the meantime lunch was ready, Christmas was around the corner and had to prepare for the kids' school party.

Mais raro, porém, é essas ideias usarem a própria casa de banho como meio de comunicação.Em 2012, no então Optimus Primavera Sound, no Porto, numa das idas a uma das casas de banho portáteis do festival, ocorreu-me dar-lhe utilidade acrescida. Com o quadro de limpezas em branco, transformei-o num horário com os principais concertos do dia 8 de Junho. Algo de extrema utilidade num evento com quatro palcos.PS: Grandes concertos, os de Black Lips e Thee Oh Sees.[ENG] Many ideas arise in the bathroom. More rare, however, is to find ideas using the bathroom itself as media.In 2012, during the Optimus Primavera Sound festival, in Porto, in one of many visits to the festival's portable toilets, I thought of making them even more useful. With the cleaning board left imn blank, I turned it into a schedule with the main concerts on the 8th of June. [PT] No Natal de 2012, ofereci à minha mulher as estadas nos hotéis da Tailândia onde ficaríamos no início de 2013.Problema: não era um presente muito vistoso. Solução: transformei-o num convite oficial do Governo tailandês. Foi um sucesso. A viagem também.[ENG] For Christmas 2012, I gave my wife the hotel stays for a holiday in Thailand.Problem: It wasn't a very flashy gift. Solution: I turned it into an official invitation from the Thai government. It was a success. The trip too.
R.I.P. Ramones
[PT] Todos conhecemos o logotipo dos Ramones, desde o punk mais militante à influenciadora nutrida a reggaeton e croquetes de abacate na zona VIP de festivais de música. Criado pelo designer Arturo Vega, transformou-se num dos símbolos mais impressos em t-shirts de que há memória.Ostentando os nomes artísticos dos quatro fundadores, esta versão pervertida do escudo do Presidente dos Estados Unidos eterniza uma banda de que, na verdade, desde 2014 não resta ninguém. Com a morte de do último fundador, Tommy, em 2014, ocorreu-me uma nova versão do logo para uma pequena homenagem nas redes sociais. É esta aqui à direita. [ENG] We all know the Ramones logo, from the most militant punk to the influencer in a reggaeton and avocado-based diet in the VIP area of music festivals. Created by designer Arturo Vega, it has become one of the most printed symbols on t-shirts ever.Bearing the artistic names of the four founders, this perverted version of the President of the United States' shield immortalizes a band that, in fact, has no member left since 2014. With the death of the last founder, Tommy, in 2014, I came up with a new version of the logo for a small tribute on social media. It's this one on the right.
Eusébio (1942-2014)
[PT] Em Janeiro de 2014, o Benfica (sou o sócio nº 5211) perdeu Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, o maior jogador da sua História. A morte de Eusébio resultou em todo o tipo de homenagens nas redes sociais. Esta foi a minha, na forma de uma cover photo no Facebook. [PT] A blogger e influenciadora A Pipoca Mais Doce, reconhecida benfiquista, pediu-me para usá-la como cabeçalho do seu blog. E assim a minha ideia chegou onde eu nunca pensaria chegar: a sei lá quantos milhares (milhões?) de amigos do lifestyle.
[ENG] In January 2014, Benfica (club member number 5211 here) lost Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, the greatest player in its History. Eusébio's death resulted in all kinds of tributes on social media. This was mine, in the form of a Facebook cover photo.[ENG] A Pipoca Mais Doce, a notorious Benfica fan and one of the biggest Portuguese bloggers and influencers, asked me to use the the image as the header of her blog. And so my idea got to a place where I never thought it would go: to the epicentre of (cough cough) lifestyle.Maradona (1960-2020)

The Songs of A Naifa
[PT] A Naifa foi um dos projectos musicais portugueses mais iluminados do início do século XXI. Fundindo uma visão desempoeirada do fado com uma linguagem musical sem medo do ritmo analógico e digital, A Naifa brincou à portugalidade de forma magistralmente séria. Em 2013, editaram o álbum "As Canções d'A Naifa", paradoxalmente um álbum de versões de canções mais e menos populares da música portuguesa das últimas décadas. Para divulgar o disco junto dos media, pediram--me um texto sobre ele. Isto foi o que escrevi.[ENG] A Naifa was one of the most enlightened Portuguese musical projects of the beginning of the 21st century. Fusing a non-traditional vision of fado with a musical language with no fear of analog and digital rhythms, A Naifa played with Portuguese cultural references in a masterfully serious way. In 2013, they released the album "As Canções d'A Naifa" ("The Songs of A Naifa"), paradoxically an album of covers of more and less popular songs of Portuguese music from the last decades. To promote the album to the media, I was asked to write a text about it. This is what I wrote.THE SONGS OF A NAIFAOctober.It's night and the creature crawls between pitch black and the occasional spotlights that want to kill it. The creature, tall by nature and firm by formation, keeps crawling. Rotten and crestfallen.It gets into an obvious alley. An alley that, in no more than two or three steps, will remind it of its end. It doesn't care. In fact, it doesn't think. Neither in what it does nor in the whole it got into. It doesn't take two steps. Four creatures, these humans, jump on its way. Dark figures strangely lit by a lamp on the wall. Each one carries a knife. Four shivs pointed at the wretched and dying creature.The creature comes to the idea of saving the life it has left:- What do you want from me? I have nothing do give. They took everything from me. The vivid brunette, whose eyes sparkle, speaks to him in the name of the group with her supernatural voice:- No one wants to take anything from you. On the contrary. We came to return your poetry and your songs. You're going to swallow them, whether you want it or not, whether you like what we did to them or not.Hopefully this fetid numbness will abandon you. We bring you the poets who didn't let their courage die. We even bring you those who fought censorship with "olés". You should listen to more survivors. We bring you songs that aren't ours. They don't belong to these thin wise people who make you offerings with knives in hand. They're yours, but you forgot them.We're hoping that, when you listen to Ary, Lobo Antunes and Mourão Ferreira again, you free yourself from your condition, your fate of the subaltern. [PT] O ser humano procura a eternidade. E nessa busca há quem tente perpetuar a sua existência na memória dos gadgets em exibição nas lojas de tecnologia. Pessoas mais ou menos criativas que, quando manuseiam um iPad pela primeira vez, não resistem a fotografar-se e ao que as rodeia. Para nossa alegria, as fotos permanecem nos aparelhos. E assim nasceu o "projecto" iPad Virgins, uma incursão arqueológica em ecrãs retina para não deixar morrer o desejo de eternidade. E de galhofa. [ENG] The human being seeks eternity. And in this quest, there are people who try to perpetuate their existence in the memory of the gadgets on display in technology stores. Somewhat creative people who, when handling an iPad for the first time, can't resist photographing themselves and their surroundings. To our delight, the photos remain on the devices. And so the iPad Virgins "project" was born, an archaeological incursion into retina screens to keep the desire for eternity from dying. And to have a laugh.
